Meet Nicole
Note: Nicole is not currently accepting new clients. Please book with one of our other therapists.
I help people like you understand the reasons for your suffering and create a roadmap for a more content and fulfilling life. I believe that a large part of the stigma surrounding mental health comes from a belief that mental health struggles and mental illness are a result of some sort of inherent flaw or inadequacy. I approach my work from the perspective that there is a logical reason (often many) for your struggle. There is a piece of the puzzle that makes your struggle (or your symptoms) make sense. If we can figure out what this is, we have a roadmap for moving forward.
I have provided individual and group counselling services in private, school, and community settings. I love education and learning so I also regularly facilitate workshops focused on mental health and wellness and am an author and post-secondary instructor in the area of psychology. I recognize that no single approach is the right one for everyone, and have been trained in a range of evidence-based modalities, including Narrative, Constructivist, Cognitive Behavioural, Mindfulness-Based, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Not sure what those names mean? Not to worry, I’m happy to explain. I also have a background in biological sciences, which helps me to integrate an understanding of the biological and neurological basis of mental health.

Life can throw experiences at us that shake our sense of who we are, challenge our worth, or make us question where we belong. These experiences are universal — no one is immune — but the ways we process and respond to them are deeply personal. I work from a place of genuine curiosity, helping you explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Often, things are not as they first appear, and my role is to help you uncover, understand, and gently challenge the patterns or beliefs that might be standing in your way.
I see therapy as a transformative and progressive process, where we explore possibilities together and take each next step intentionally. My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling more connected to themselves and their priorities — making choices, directing their energy, and focusing on the parts of life that feel truly meaningful and aligned with who they are.
I bring over 20 years of experience in the helping professions, with 13 years as a practicing therapist. I’ve worked in schools, non-profit organizations, private practice, and public service, gaining insight into the many ways people navigate challenges. I also have significant experience working with first responders. Whatever challenge you bring, my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where we can explore your experiences, uncover strengths, and develop strategies to help you move forward with confidence, resilience, and a renewed sense of meaning.
At MP, we love Sara for her wealth of knowledge and experience, her kindness, and her sense of humour!

Meet Devany

- Trauma, including EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy work
- Substance misuse, including personal substance use or navigating the impact of a loved one’s substance use
- Chronic illness and health concerns
- Post-secondary/young adult concerns, including stress, procrastination, and burnout
- Anxiety
- Depression and suicidal ideation
- Life transitions, including relationship changes, entry/exit from work and school, becoming ill, becoming a parent
- Stress management and self-care

Many people come to therapy looking for a safe place to untangle what feels heavy, confusing, or painful. My goal is to offer that space — a place where you can slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with yourself.
I take a gentle and compassionate approach, and I also pay close attention to the body in the healing process. So often, our bodies carry what our minds can’t — like tension, numbness, or a sense of being stuck. By noticing and working with these patterns, we can release what’s been held inside, ease overwhelming emotions, and create a stronger foundation of safety and resilience.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, past trauma, relationship struggles, or simply a sense of disconnection, I’m here to meet you where you are. Together, we’ll explore your experiences — both in your thoughts and in your body — so you can move toward a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and whole.
I have worked in private, post-secondary, and community settings for the last eight years in a therapeutic capacity. My formal education is in neuroscience and counselling psychology, as well as yoga instruction, all of which helps me to integrate many different layers of the human experience. I’m so glad you are here and I look forward to connecting with you!
At MP, we love Devany for her relaxed presence, her mindful approach, and her wealth of knowledge.

I believe therapy is built on trust, safety, and mutual respect, and so I bring my real self to my relationship with clients in order to meet and discover the ‘self’ you want to become. Together, we will explore the physical, emotional, and environmental factors creating friction in your life, and work towards sustainable and meaningful change. This may include learning new skills, processing emotions, and finding meaning in your past and present experiences. Life is full of challenges, and I will accompany you in learning to build resilience in the face of those challenges, without becoming overwhelmed. My clients share that I bring warmth, authenticity, and a calm presence to our sessions, acknowledging individual strengths and the uniqueness of your life experiences.
My background in community mental health has shaped a flexible and inclusive approach to therapy. I support individuals navigating anxiety, low mood, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship struggles, parenting stress, self-esteem challenges, and trouble sleeping. I draw from a range of approaches—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused work, Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-focused techniques—while keeping your goals and experiences at the center of our work. I’m also certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), two powerful, research-supported methods for helping the brain and body process distressing or traumatic experiences in a safe and manageable way.
